DRYING OF SEA BUCKTHORN (HIPPOPHA? RHAMNOIDES L.):DEVELOPMENT OF EXTRACTED PRODUCTS
The effect of different drying methods on the properties of Sea buckthorn (Hippopha? rhamnoides),as well as on the extraction yield and quality of oils from leaves and berries of the plant were investigated.Berries, leaves, pulp and seeds were air, freeze and solar dried and the moisture content was determined during the process.Water and oil absorption indexes of the dried products were measured.Sequential oil extractions were carried out at the dried products using solvents of different polarity.Bioactive compounds determination was conducted using Liquid Chromatography- Diode Array Detector -Mass Spectrometry. The free radical scavenging activities of different extracts were also evaluated.
