MEASUREMENT AND COMPUTING MODEL FOR OPTIMISING DRYING OPERATIONS

　　Many drying processes are optimised for a given product,based on years of experience.A generic model has been developed that can be applicable to a variety of materials and act as a vital support tool for optimising the drying operation for a given product.A fundament for obtaining a modelling tool of a high quality is knowledge about the product’s properties which in many cases is not available.Therefore,as a means of achieving a valid model an approach is suggested where the thermal and mass transfer properties are extracted based on foodstuff analysis of the product and an extensive experimental study of DVS equipment.
