Genetic Analysis of Flashy Root Traits in Tai-tsai (Brassica campestris L.ssp.Chinensis (L.) Makino var.tai-tsai Hort)

To study the inheritance of three traits (root length, root width and root weight) of flashy root in Tai-tsai (Brassica campestris L.ssp.Chinensis (L.) Makino var.tai-tsai Hort),the gene effects were measured based on the components of genetic variation in the six-generation populations. The results showed that additive (d) and dominance (h) components were positive in all the three root traits. The dominance effects were much greater than additive genetic effects in the inheritance of these flashy mot traits. The same signs of dominance (h) and dominance × dominance (1) displayed the complementary type in root length. While the dominance (h) and dominance × dominance (1) gene effects had opposite sign in root width and root weight which implied duplicate type of gene action. The sum of fixable gene effects (d+i) were lower than the sum of non-fixable gene effects (h+1) in all flashy root traits, indicating greater role of non-additive effects in the inheritance of flashy root traits in Tai-tsai.
