Isolation of a Male Sterile Gene (BrS1F) from Chinese Cabbage (Brassica rapa L.ssp.pekinensis)
A different-expressed gene BrS1F between fertile and sterile buds was found from the male sterile A/B line ‘AB01 of Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa L.ssp.pekinensis) by cDNA-AFLP (cDNA amplified fragment length polymorphism) method.RT-PCR (reverse transcription PCR) analysis shows that the housekeeping gene Actin had the same expression level between fertile and sterile buds, but BrS1F is a fertile-related gene as it is expressed only in fertile plants, but not in sterile plants. Moreover,Sequencing and NCBI Blast analysis showed that BrS1F is 326 bp and has 65% homology to the self-incompatibility family protein of Arabidopsis thaliana. But the exactly function of BrS1F should be confirmed further more.It lays the foundation for further cloning of the genes and revealing the molecular mechanism of genic multiple-allele-in-herited male sterility of Chinese cabbage.
