STOCHASTIC VISCOUS-DAMAGE CONSTITUTIVE MODEL FOR CONCRETE
A new rate-dependent stochastic damage model for the dynamic modeling of concrete is presented in the paper.Firstly, the model is formulated on the basis of the bi-scalar inviscid stochastic damage model, from which, the static stochastic evolution of damage is strictly derived. Then, rate dependency of concrete is included by means of viscous-damage constitutive relationships. The inclusion of the Stefan effect results in an increased strength with increasing loading rate. The model predictions are tested against experimental results on concrete specimens that cover different strain rates. The results demonstrate the capabilities of the proposed model to predict the rate-dependency of concrete failure behavior.
