DYNAMIC INTERACTION BETWEEN WATER AND BRIDGE PIER UNDER EARTHQUAKE EXCITATION
The dynamic interaction between water and bridge pier is of great significance to ensure the safety of bridges in deep water under earthquake action. In this study, the earthquake induced hydrodynamic pressure on bridge piers is developed based on radiation wave theory, then, the influence of water compressibility and free surface wave on the hydrodynamic pressure are studied.Meanwhile,an method for dynamic interaction analysis between water and bridge pier under earthquake excitation is proposed and the influences of hydrodynamic pressure on the dynamic responses of bridge pier in deep water are numerically studied. The results indicate that the influence of free surface wave and water compressibility are insignificant and can be ignored in analyzing the hydrodynamic pressure on bridge piers in deep water; and the hydrodynamic pressure action increases the dynamic responses of bridge piers in deep water, which changes with different input earthquake waves; the hydrodynamic pressure produced by inner water cant be ignored when inner water exists in bridge piers with hollow section. Finally,a shaking table test is performed to verify that the dynamic responses of the bridge pier in deep water will be incresed because of the hydrodynamic pressure action.
