RECONSTRUCTION OF THE CLOSURE SEGMENT OF MAIN SPAN IN EXISTING PRESTRESSED CONCRETE CABLE-STAYED BRIDGES
Aiming to repair the failure of the joint between the closure segment and its adjacent segments located at the main span of existing prestressed concrete cable-stayed bridges,a strengthening method, named as reconstruction of the closure segment, was put forward. There were three key techniques in this method, that is,reliable new-to-old concrete bonding, rehabilitation and enhancement of prestressing in the new closure segment.Several technical measures for ensuring new-to-old concrete bonding were systematically introduced,as well as a structural optimization method for controlling the tension of prestressing steel bars in the new closure segment. In addition, the stress condition of the new closure segment was improved by enlarging section and external prestressing tendons, and the design calculation model was established.A engineering practice, the repair of Yonghe Bridge, demonstrated the remarkable effects of this strengthening method.
