LOADS GENERATED BY HUMAN WALKING:EXPERIMENTS AND NUMERICAL MODELING

A series of experiments have been conducted on 73 test subjects in this study to investigate the dynamic properties of human-walking load and to build a proper load model. In the experiment, each test subject was instructed to walk at three self-chosen rates and at four fixed waling frequencies (1.5,1.75,2.0 and 2.25 Hz) guided by an electronic metronome. Two force plates were utilized to record the footfall curves of each test subject while he/she walking.Three dimensional motion capture technology was also employed to measure the spatio-temporal movements of the test subject, from which gait parameters as stride length, step length, cadence, average of walking could be calculated.Statistical results of the frequency ranges, the amplification factor and the gait parameters, dynamic load factors were presented. Finally,a Fourier series load model is suggested for engineering application.
