SUBSTRUCTURAL IDENTIFICATION OF NONLINEAR RESTORING FORCE AND DYNAMIC LOADINGS WITH PARTIALLY UNKNOWN EXCITATIONS

In recent years, some approaches have been proposed for the identification of nonlinear dynamic systems in a parametric or nonparametric form,a major challenge lies in considerable convergence difficulty when a large number of unknowns are involved. For a whole large-male structure with vast account of unknowns,it is a better way to decompose it into several smaller substructures and to identify each substructure independently and separately for a relatively stable and accurate nonlinearity and dynamic excitataion identification result. In this paper, based on a power series polynomial model (PSPM),a time-domain iterative substructural approach was proposed for the simultaneous identification of nonlinear restoring force (NRF) and dynamic loadings while the system was under partially unknown excitations. The efficiency and accuracy of the approach were validated numerically with a substructure in a 50 degrees-of-freedoms (DOFs) model with 10% noise-contaminated signals. The results show that the proposed approach is capable of identifying the NRF of the concerned substructure as well as the unknown dynamic loadings with acceptable accuracy, and provide a promising way for the damage detection of engineering structures which should be considered as a nonlinear system.
