EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH ON FUNDAMENTAL MECHANICAL PERFORMANCE OF STRAW CONCRETE BLOCK

  Straw concrete is a new type of environmental building materials.While adding cornstalk,attribute to the retarder existed in cornstalk,strength of straw concrete is greatly decreased,but ductility is improved by cornstalk.Since the complex framework,the mechanical performance of staw concrete is much more complex.For studying the mechanical property of it,a uniaxial compression experiment has been made,which used test specimens constaining different proportions (10%& 15%) of straw,to get the constitutive-curve.Used empirical formula to calculate the modulus of elasticity,then the experimental data is fitted into cubic polynomials which divided into incremental portion and declining portion,the formula is similar with regular concretes,but the coefficients are different.The data and conclusion made in the experiment can be referred for application and development of straw concrete.
