THE NONLINEAR DYNAMIC STABILITY OF ARCH STRUCTURES UNDER HARMONIC LOADING ACTION

  The long-span arch structures have been widely used in civil engineering.As arch structures work mainly under axial pressure,the geometric nonlinearity has a great effect,which usually makes the supporting capacity of arch structures depended on its stability.Analyses have shown that arch structures have obvious response to dynamic loading.Single span arch structures,whose rise-span ratio could be 1/3,1/5 or 1/7,have been chosen to analysis the characteristics of the linear resonance response,during which the resonance region has been got.Then keep rising the extent of the dynamic loading,make the structures work under the main resonance frequencies,which are chose from the resonance region.By this means,the analysis of the nonlinear dynamic structural stability can get good results,which proves the method is effective and practical.
