EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON FIRE RESISTANCE OF COMPOSITE SLABS FILLED WITH DEMOLISHED CONCRETE BLOCKS

A new fireproof coating was prepared by using rice husk ash (RHA) as thermal-insulating aggregates and using alkali activated calcined kaolin geopolymer as green binder.Four composite slabs filled with demolished concrete blocks (DCBs) and fresh concrete (FC),two of which were protected by the new fireproof coating, and two composite slabs filled with FC alone were experimentally investigated in fire following the ISO834 standard heating process. The experimental results show that:(a) The new fireproof coating exhibits excellent thermal-insulation capacity when exposed to fire; and (b) The fire resistance of a composite slab filled with DCBs and FC is similar to that filled with FC alone.
