THE EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON SELF-ADAPTION MINIMUM CONTROLLING SYNTHESIS (MCS) ALGORITHM OF AMD SYSTEM

In earthquakes and strong wind, the structural active mass damper (AMD) system can calculate the controlling force in real-time and actively exert it onto the structure with a certain control algorithm according to the change of external load, reducing the structural vibration response. The key to the controlling effect on structural vibration by AMD system depends primarily on the control algorithm. In this paper MCS self-adaption control algorithm is applied into AMD system. This algorithm does not necessarily require the mechanical model and parameters in advance. With excellent robust performance,it is appropriate for application into structural vibration control. The governing equation of self-adaption algorithm is deduced about the reference model MCS; the reference model is proposed about the seismic energy reduction control; and the simulation analysis is performed on the two-storied frame construction of the AMD device. In order to test the validity of MCS self-adaption algorithm,a control algorithm experiment is carried out on the UCIST Ⅱ small vibration table and compared with the traditional pole allocation algorithm. The result indicates that by using MCS self-adaption algorithm the structural controlled response is kept consistent with the anticipated response of the reference model, and its controlling effect is superior to that of the traditional pole allocation algorithm.
