INVESTIGATION OF COLLAPSE PATTERN OF SEISMIC ISOLATED STRUCTURE SUBJECT TO MULTI-DIMENSIONAL EARTHQUAKE
This paper presents an investigation of collapse pattern of seismic isolated structure subject to multi-dimensional earthquake using the method of incremental dynamic analysis (IDA) with the help of FEM software MARC.With different parameters assigned, four major patterns of isolated structure collapse occurred,i.e.,isolator collapse, first story collapse, basement column collapse, and collapse due to pounding of isolation layer. The result shows that the collapse in an isolated structure might occur more easily when subjected to multi-dimensional earthquake than single directional earthquake input.
