A NEW CONCEPT OF CONCRETE CONSTITUTIVE MODEL:THE FRACTAL-MICROPLANE MODEL
Concrete constitutive models have significant influences on the result of finite element modeling of concrete structures. In this paper, based on the microplane model,a new concept of concrete constitutive model is proposed, which is called the fractal-microplane model. In the proposed fractal-microplane model, the fractal characteristics of failure surfaces in concrete are accounted on the microscopic planes of the model (i.e.,microplanes).The verifications indicate that the fractal-microplane model can represent the size effect on strength of concrete material. The fractal-microplane model can provide an approach to deeply investigating the effects on concrete performance due to the concrete compositions.
