ANALYSIS OF THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES AND STENGTH EVALUATION OF TENSION LEGS OF TLP

  The tendon system is an important part of TLP,and the tension legs must have enough strength to guarantee the safety of the platform.Because in the inplace TLP undergoes a variety of loads,including wind,current and wave load etc.,and the magnitude of load applied on the platform varies with its floating places,selecting the proper method for mechanical properties analysis of tension leg plays a significant role in the evaluation of tension leg global strength.In the paper,the calculating model of tension leg is built on the basis of analysis of many cases.According to longitudinal and transverse bend theory of beam,differential equation for dynamic response of tension leg is derived from the calculating model.Because of the complex structure of tension leg,it is very difficult to obtain mathematical solution of the equation.Therefore,finite element method is used to perform mechanical properties analysis of tension legs.The loads of current,wave and weight,and different position conditions are considered in the finite element analysis.By the finite element analysis,results of calculation in different cases are obtained.In terms of those results,the effect of platform offset and tension leg tension on stress distribution is discussed.Finally,the global strength of tension leg is evaluated by the design standard.
