DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATIONS OF PORT CONTROL SYSTEM IN DS-LITE
IPv6 is considered as the only means tosolving the problem of public IPv4 address shortage. For many reasons there would be a long transition time from IPv4 to IPv6.Many transition solutions were introduced, such as Dual-stack Lite (DS-Lite) 1 which allows continuity of IPv4 service and incremental IPv6 introduction s.With DS-Lite solution,a Network Address Translation (NAT) function at the border of IPv4 and IPv6 network is a necessity to address IPv4 exhaustion.Port Control Protocol (PCP) is a work from Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF),which aims at enabling an explicit dialog with a middlebox such as a NAT or a firewall to open up and/or forward TCP or UDP port,This paper discusses using Port Control Protocol (PCP) in the DS-Lite context. An implementation of PCP client, especially designed in a way to test functionality of PCP server, with a web user interface provided and validation of this implementation, are described in this paper. This work demonstrates deployment of PCP,in the light of showing easiness of introducing new protocols for IPv6 transition.
