ENERGY CONSUMPTION ANALYSIS OF THE COOPERATIVE MAC IN SINGLE-HOP WIRELESS LANS

  In this paper,we propose an analytical framework to investigate the energy consumption of each node in saturated single-hop IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs with the cooperative MAC called CoopMAC,which is seen as a classical MAC protocol under cooperation.With a more accurate performance analysis,we provide a more comprehensive analysis of different operations in cooperation transmissions by taking into account the different operational modes in communication phases that a node goes through.Thus,a formulation of the energy consumption for each node is derived.With the proposed model,we develop a case study and provide interesting indications to make a tradeoff between system throughput and lifetime.
