AN APPLICATION OF FIREFLY ALGORITHM IN BEAMFORMING OPTIMIZATION OF LINEAR ANTENNA ARRAYS

  This paper intends to introduce a novel application of Firefly Algorithm (FA) to beamforming optimization of antenna arrays.Nature-inspired algorithms are among the most powerful algorithms for optimization,in which FA is a newly developed algorithm.It is a stochastic metaheuristic approach based on the social behavior of the flashing characteristics of fireflies.Through FA optimization of an eight-element antenna array,we can acquire a best solution including eight magnitudes and phases respectively for the way of feeding an eight-element-array.
