DESIGN AND ANALYSIS OF TRIPLE-BAND MONOPOLE ANTENNA WITH BAND-NOTCHED CHARACTERISTICS
A simple and novel planar triple-band monopole antenna, which is transformed from an ultra-wideband(UWB) monopole antenna with band-notched characteristics,is presented for simultaneously satisfying wireless local area network (WLAN),worldwide interoperability for microwav(e) access (WiMAX),C-band satellite communication systems, and intelligent transfer system (ITS) applications.Byintroducing the band-notched mechanism of etching a crescent-shaped slot in the radiation patch and two symmetrical rectangular slots in the ground plane to the UWB monopole antenna (2.36-12GHz) consisting of a circular radiating element and a circular slot defected ground structure(DGS),the multi-band operation is achieved over the frequency range from 2.26 to 2.79 GHz,from 3.34 to 4.84 GHz and from 5.51 to 6.64 GHz with voltage standing wave ratio(VSWR) of less than 2,covering the 2.4/5.8-GHz WLAN bands,2.5/3.5-GHz WiMAX bands,3.7-4.2 GHz C-band satellite communication systems and 5.75-6.25 GHz ITS bands.Based on the simulated and measured results of multi-band matched impedance, stable radiation patterns, reasonable antenna gains and compact size, the proposed multi-band monopole antenna transformed from a UWB monopole antenna with band-notched characteristics can be suitable for wireless communication products.
