A WIDEBAND SMALL LOOP ANTENNA WITH DIRECTIONAL RADIATION PATTERNS

　　A resistance loaded loop antenna design is proposed.The objective of this paper is to achieve a wideband small antenna with directional radiation patterns operating in the VHF band.The size of the antenna is 1.0 × 1.5 m2.The simulated results show that the VSWR of this antenna is below 2.0 over the frequency band from 40 MHz to 104 MHz.The efficiency of the antenna is from 16.5% to 78%.The directional characters can be achieved from 40 MHz to 80 MHz and the broadside gain is from-4.9 dB to-1.1 dB over the frequency band of 40-100 MHz.
