Assessing Environmental Impact of Magnesium Production by Vacuum Carbothermic Reduction

  This paper firstly introduces the process of producing magnesium by vacuum carbothermic reduction.Then the generation of pollutants are systematically analyzed in the whole process,and the pollutants producing coefficient are calculated by material balance method and analogy method for waste gas,waste water,waste residues,noise.In order to lower energy consumption and material consumption,reduce pollution,some effective and feasible pollution-prevention measures was put forward.Finally,the environmental impact assessment of magnesium production by vacuum carbothermic reduction was carried out according to the pollutants.
