Nitrogen metabolic network reconstruction of Rhodopseudomonas palustris DX-1

  Metabolic network reconstruction integrates genomics,proteomics and metabolomics,providing a system level research.The in silico simulation of metabolic network reveals in depth analysis of relations between gene,protein and reaction.Rhodopseudomonas palustris DX-1 has extraordinary metabolic versatility and utilizes a wide variety of substrates producing electricity,which is a hydrogen producing bacteria.Nitrogen metabolism constitutes an important part of metabolic network of R.palustris DX-1,which includes three nitrogenases,making it distinct from other microbial species.An improved protocol for microbial metabolic network reconstruction is applied in nitrogen metabolic network reconstruction of R.palustris DX-1.A draft model of nitrogen metabolism is constructed including 21 reactions,15 metabolites,37 genes.Through the metabolic network analysis,the relationship of nitrogen metabolism and hydrogen production is discovered,instructing genetic engineering to transformation strains in order to increase the hydrogen yield.
