A Study and Demonstration of Yellow River Delta Wetland Ecosystem Recovery Technology
In order to recover the wetland functions and structure,and protect biodiversity,the Yellow River Delta Nature Reserve (YRDNR) has since 2002 engaged in a wetland recovery technology research based on protecting birds habitat and species population,and coastal wetlands,as well as the study of ecological water compensation project constructions technology.These studies,providing comprehensive consideration to water source options,volume of ecological water compensation,time of water compensation and frequency of water compensation,formulate and optimize the solutions for ecological water compensation and propose a long-term tracking and monitoring of recovery effects with the scientific and rational evaluations.According to the analysis on data from systemic surveys of wetland recovery over the years and considering time and spatial scales,these studies based on ecological and hydrological theories integrate the total volume control based water distribution technology with the pattern optimization water distribution technology,forming a highly correlated,operable,sustainable and mature technology for the Yellow River delta wetland ecosystem recovery.Currently,210,000 mu (14,007 ha) of wetland recovery demonstration zones have been built in YRDNR.According to the evaluations of the components forming the wetland and effects of bird habitat response,good results have been achieved in the Yellow River delta wetland ecosystem recovery,with the significant recovery of its ecosystem structure and functions,effective improvement in the conditions of degenerated wetlands,constant enrichment in fish,aquatic plants and other flora and fauna,great increase in the number of representative wetland indication species such as,birds,as well as substantial enhancement in the ecological carrying capacity.They have showed a satisfying demonstration and popularization effect.
