Investigation of Flux Leakages and EMC Problems in Wireless Charging Systems for EV and Other Mobile Applications

High Frequency Wireless Planar Transformers (HFWPT) are an up-and-coming technology which can be used for designing an electric vehicle (EV) on board wireless battery charging platform. In this paper,HFWPTs are used to investigate the flux leakages and other EMC problems which are associated with wireless charging systems efficiency. The HFWPT was designed using the bifllar winding Concept on PCB.A LLC resonant converter has been designed to improve the conversion efficiency with a maximized air gap.Assisted by a near-field scanner, the magnetic field has been analyzed with and without a magnetic ferrite core at resonant frequency. The magnetic ferrite core in this arrangement is used to minimize fiux leakages and to increase the magnetizing impedance.
