The effects of inclusion on the pit corrosion in a metallic glass steel
The effect of inclusion on pit corrosion in metallic glass steel with the composition of Fe66.6C7.1Si3.3B5.5P8.7Cr2.3Mo2.5Al2.0Col.0S1.0 was investigated in 0.5M NaCl solution at room temperature. The results indicate that the metallic glass steel is immune to pit corrosion in this environment. The dissolution of sulfide inclusion does not trigger pit corrosion of metallic glass steel since the stable passive film is formed easily on the fresh metal of glassy matrix. Therefore,it can be proposed that the pit corrosion is mainly determined to the microstructural homogeneity and composition of metallic glass steel rather than the existence of sulfide inclusion.
