In Situ Observation of MnS Inclusion Behavior in Heavy Rail Steel during Heating
The change process of MnS inclusions in heavy rail casting slab was in-situ observed by confocal laser scanning microscope. The result shows the MnS has shape evolution owing to the influence of the diffusion and dissolution with the increase of the temperature. The small-sized MnS inclusion with spindle and nearly spherical shapes in continuous slabs are obtained with proper heating temperature between 600℃ and 870℃ or 1150 ℃ and 1200℃,and the excessive heating temperature can cause size increase of MnS inclusion.
