Study on the Influence of Cure-induced Residual Stresses on Fatigue Crack Grown for Fibre Metal Laminate

Residual stresses are inevitable for fibre metal laminate in curing process, and residual tensile stress is in the metal layer and residual compressive stress is in the fibre layer. In this paper, for mode I cracks in the through crack configuration, the FEM prediction model of cure-induced residual stresses was developed. The residual stresses distribution of fibre metal laminate plate was obtained. And then the analytical model was developed to predict fatigue crack grown of fibre metal laminate 2/1 structures with a residual stresses distribution.a-N curves of samples were obtained.
