Leaching characteristics of heavy metals in pyrolyzed municipal sewage sludge and application of solid residues in the glass-ceramic

  This paper is to present a laboratory study on the leaching characteristics of heavy metals including Cu,Zn,Ni,As,Pb in pyrolyzed municipal sewage sludge and application of solid residues in the glass-ceramic.For this purpose,the municipal sewage sludge was pyrolyzed at 600℃ and the change of the total content and leaching concentration of heavy metals in the sludge and solid residues were investigated.The effect of leaching time,liquid-solid ratio and pH on the leaching concentration of heavy metals in the solid residues were studied.Pyrolyzed solid residues were used to prepare glass-ceramic and the related performances of glass-ceramic were tested.The results showed that the content of Cu,Zn,Ni,As,Pb in solid residues significantly increases,but the leaching concentration reduces respectively by 99.70%,100%,99.46%,83.93% and 39.13%.Leaching time,liquid-solid ratio and pH have a certain impact on the leaching concentration of heavy metals in the solid residues.With the increase of leaching time and liquid-solid ratio,the leaching concentration of heavy metals generally increases.But with the increase of pH,the leaching concentration of heavy metals decreases.Pyrolyzed solid residues are used to prepare glass-ceramic and the compressive strength is 170MPa,flexural strength is 38MPa,micro hardness is 5GPa,density is 2.7g/cm,all the performances meet the requirements.
