Study on the lubrication properties of Nitinol 60 alloy used as high-speed rolling bearing and number simulation of flow pattern of oil-air lubrication

With the development of modem industry, rolling bearings should work under the extreme conditions, such as high speed. Therefore, new high performance rolling bearing material is developed and a suitable lubrication type will be proposal to improving limit bearing speed for high-speed rolling bearing.Nitinol 60 have high hardness, electrically conductive, highly corrosion resistant, less dense than steel, readily machined prior to final heat treatment, nongalling, nonmagnetic and great tribological properties. Therefore,Nitinol 60 is shown to be a promising candidate material for oil-lubricated rolling and sliding contact applications such as bearings. In this paper, the friction and wear tests were conducted using Nitinol 60 pin loaded between rotating GCr15 steel disc, lubricated with PAO oil.Contrary to inability to successfully lubricate other metal alloys with high titanium content,it is found that Nitinol 60 can be lubricated by PAO oils and Nitinol 60 has shown remarkable tribological performance under oil-lubricated conditions.
