Structure and Properties of MnO2 coated Spherical LiLi0.2Mn0.43Ni0.185Co0.185O2
Spherical hydrxide precursor was prepared by co precipitation method and then spherical lithium-rich layered material LiLi0.2Mn0.43Ni0.185Co0.185O2 was obtained by solid state calcination method.Nano MnO2 was used to modify the surface of the cathode.Their structures and properties of the materials were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD),scanning electron microscope (SEM),Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) and constant current charge/discharge methods.The results of the experiments indicate that the structure and morphology of LiLi0.2Mn0.43Ni0.185Co0.185O2 inherited from its precursor.2.43g/cm3 and 0.52m2/g of its BET surface area and the tap density were attained respectively.The comprehensive electrochemical performances of the nano MnO2 coating cathodes were much better than that of pure cathode,and achieved the best one while 8% MnO2 coating.The first columbic efficiency,0.1C and 0.5C discharge capacity improved from 52.6%,187.3 and 144.9 mAh/g (pure cathode)to 71.3%,236.9 and 201.7 mAh/g (coating one) respectively.
