Densification Process for Sintering Glass Ceramic Derived from Reduced Slag
On-line reducing and extracting iron from molten steel slag and then directly preparing glass-ceramic by use of the residual reduced slag is a new method to utilize both steel slag and its high temperature sensible heat.In the paper, sintering glass-ceramics were directly prepared from the residual molten reduced slag and their densification processes were researched by a linear shrinkage test and analysis of XRF,DTA,XRD and SEM.Results show that glass ceramic could be successfully prepared by using the reduced slag with bending strength of 54.38 MPa.The crystallization process of the parent glass would occur before its densification process finished, which then retarded the densification process. The sintering process can be divided into 4 stages:rapid densification stage under low temperature, stagnant densification stage with crystallization process, limited densification stage under high temperature, and deteriorative densification stage under remelting temperature. For the reduced slag system, the highest temperature under which crystalline phases were not generated is overlapped with the temperature which the maximum nucleation process occurred in the present glass, which would be contributed to its sintering process.
