Properties and Microstructures of Blast Furnace Carbon Blocks with TiO2 Additions
High-quality blast furnace carbon blocks should have excellent micro-porous structure, thermal conductivity and anti-molten iron erosion.Effect of TiO2 additions on the properties and microstructures of carbon blocks was evaluated in terms of phase and microstructure evolutions. The formation of SiC,Sialon and Ti(C,N) crystalline phases in the matrix contribute to the excellent properties of such materials, namely high thermal conductivity and good anti-molten iron erosion.However,TiO2 additions can lead to the worse of micro-porous structure due to the interlocked reactions.
