Optimized Forming Technologies of Flexible Blank-drawer for Sphere-shape Sheet Metal Parts

  In order to increase the flexibility of stamping processes and save the cost of manufacturing double curved sheet metal,a new type of flexible blank-drawer (FBD) was presented by the authors,based on the principle of multi-point discrete (as shown in Fig.l).Furthermore,its plastic forming technology for double curved sheet metal was studied detailed by finite element method.The results indicate that FBD can suppress the wrinkling and tearing,increase the flow of metal,and decrease the springback.By adjusting the value of stretch and clamp force of the FBD,the optimized forming technologies for sphere-shape sheet metal parts have been developed successfully (as shown in Fig.2).A set of FBD can replace different sizes of blank-holder,which can save the expense of manufacturing double curved sheet metal.This work can increase the flexibility of stamping processes for manufacturing double curved sheet metal.
