Effect of discharge voltage on rivet deformation in electromagnetic riveting
Electromagnetic riveting is an effective way to solve the joining of titanium alloy and composite structure, and the discharge voltage is the most important parameter in electromagnetic riveting. The effects of discharge voltage on TA1 rivet deformation degree was investigated by experimental method from macro and micro aspects. The results showed that discharge current amplitude, riveting force and rivet deformation degree increased with the increase of discharge voltage. The deformation of rivet head was inhomogeneous. In the difficult deformation zone, grain size difference was large and the adiabatic shear band was obvious. And in small deformation zone, grain crushing aggravated and grain boundary was not clear.Grain was essentially unchanged in rivet shaft and twins can be observed in a lot of grains,so the rivet shaft was uniform expansion deformation.Adiabatic shear band was obvious increasingly and the grains of adiabatic shear zone were elongated severely and distributed along adiabatic shear band direction with rivet deformation degree increasing.
