Practice of Reducing Specific Refractory Consumption of 60t Ladle Furnace
The paper reports practice of reducing specific refractory consumption in a 60t ladle fumace.Measures include:1) MgO-C brick containing 66%recycled MgO-C material is used for slag line zone and that containing 88% recycled MgO-C for barrel;2) Producing MgO-C bricks with improved performance in accordance with operation conditions.By using the improved,service life of slag line zone increased from 15-19 heats to 24-28 heats; 3) Improving operation condition and the service life increased by 20%; lowering the slag amount and FeO content in the slag tapped out from EAF; service life increased by 15% and adding MgO-CaO-C modifier to improve slag composition;and 4) Subsidizing a thickness of 40mm Ⅱ grade high-alumina brick in barrel back lining so that the working lining service life increased from 60 heats to 88 heats.Putting the mentioned measures into effect,service life of the ladle furnace increased from 40-50 heats to 88 heats,specific refractory consumption decreased from 9.3kg/t.s to 5.6 kg/t.s,about 40% lower.If the reproduced MgO-C brick is deducted from raw material,specific consumption of refractory natural resource decreased by 85%,from 9.3kg/t.s to 1.4kg/t.s.
