Safe Operation and Long Campaign Life of Blast Furnace with Carbon Composite Bricks as Bottom and Hearth Structure
This paper describes the application of carbon composite bricks in the hearth of 2# BF (410 m3) of Shanxi Tongcai I&S Co.and 2# BF (410 m3) of Shanxi Jianbang Group.It is considered that adopting carbon composite bricks breaks with the tradition of adopting carbon bricks in the furnace hearth.Over 3 years of service proves that this carbon composite bricks,not only possess all the advantages of carbon bricks and traditional ceramic cups,but also overcome the disadvantages of both,can avoid the phenomena such as elephant-foot like erosion in the hearth,rising up of the tuyere and cracks on the shell,etc.,thus ensuring the safe operation and long campaign life of BF.Especially,carbon composite bricks are characterized by good resistances to hot metal corrosion and oxidation,which completely compensate the deficiency of carbon bricks,and improve the safety of furnace operation by preventing the risk of hearth breakout when abnormal conditions happen to the carbon bricks,thus prolonging the furnace campaign life significantly and reducing or avoiding furnace protecting with schreyerite,and therefore have bright promotion prospects.
