Investigation on Preparation and Properties of Sintered α-β Al2O3 Refractories

  Fused cast α-β Al2O3 brick is a high-class refractory used for glass melting furnace because of its excellent corrosion resistance and staining resistance to molten glass.However,low rate of finished product of fused cast α-β Al2O3 brick during manufacturing results in high cost and narrow applied field.Sintered α-β Al2O3 brick is studied in order to lower the cost and to expand the applied scope of α-β Al2O3 refractory.It indicates that sintered α-β Al2O3 brick can be prepared by reusing wasted fused cast α-β Al2O3 brick,adding corundum,aluminate cement,silica fume and dispersant.The properties of α-β Al2O3 brick fired at 1300 ℃,1500 ℃ or 1650℃ are suitable when aluminate cement content ranges from 5% to 9%.And when sintering temperature is over 1 500 ℃,the principal crystalline phases in the sintered compact are β-Al2O3 and CA6,which have high melting point and high corrosion resistance to molten glass.
