Preparation and Properties of Free-sintering Mullite-SiC Refractory
A series of free-sintering refractories which use SiC and mullite as raw materials had been studied in this paper. This kind of free-sintering refractory utilized aluminum dihydrogen phosphate as inorganic adhesive. This paper analyzed thermal shock resistance and mechanical properties of the free-sintering specimens with different additions of SiC raw material. Results showed that the linear change rate of specimens changed a little when sintered at the temperature of 1000 ℃ for 3 h.With the increase of SiC,the compressive strength of the specimens dropped and thermal shock resistance improved. The overall results suggested that when SiC addition was 30 wt.%,the apparent porosity of the specimens was 30% in average, those specimens represented good mechanical properties and thermal-shock resistance.
