A Review on Fabrication and Characterization of Calcium Hexaluminate Refractory
In this paper,the research work,fabrication and characterization of calcium hexaluminate (CA6),reviewed by the refractory research team in China University of Geosciences (Beijing).The investigation shows that gas was released from the decomposition of aluminum hydroxide and calcium carbonate which was propitious to the growth of lamellar crystal.CA6 with better lamellar morphology was synthesized by aluminum hydroxide and calcium carbonate,and granular CA6 was synthesized by α-alumina and calcium oxide.The temperature used to prepare the CA6 refractory was chosen to 1,550 ℃.The variation of CA6 refractorys properties with different γ-Al2O3/CaO ratio was significant.When the n(CaO)∶n(γ-Al2O3)was 0.8∶6,the volume shrinkage and bending strength were 30.89% and 21.99 MPa,respectively.
