Synthesis of forsterite from different mixtures with mechanical activation
Forsterite powders were synthesized by utilizing light-burned magnesia-silica (white carbon black),magnesium hydroxide-silica and basic magnesium carbonate-silica as starting materials.The influence of high-energy milling on crystalline change of the starting materials,and formation temperatures of forsterite was investigated by using XRD and TG-DTA.Different starting materials were compared in structural change during mechanical activation and forsterite formation during heat treatment.
