Study on Smoke Exhaust Efficiency Index for Building Fire

  In this paper,to evaluate the efficiency of smoke exhaust system in building fires,ventilation efficiencyindices such as SVE1,EFCS3,and L-PFR are studied and comparedusingCFASTand STEPSto simulate building fire and evacuationprocess.To revise the existed ventilation efficiency indices,a new exhaust efficiency index,L-PFR(P),isdeveloped.This new index isnot only affected by contaminant,but also depends onthe number of people in the compartment.Based on this new exhaust efficiency index,azoning control strategy in building fire is proposed,which may help reduce the impact of smoke on occupants effectively,as well as energy-saving.
