Application and Meaning of the tij Concept

  Simple and unified method to describe stress-strain behavior in general three-dimensional stress condition,which has been called the tij concept,was presented 1.Since this concept was found out from idea that the frictional law essentially governs soil behavior,its meaning is very clear.Using this concept,any kinds of one-dimensional models and/or three-dimensional models formulated by using (p and q) can be easily extended to general three-dimensional models.Methods for formulating the constitutive model using tij and the meanings of the tij concept are presented.
