Effect of Ferric Chloride on the Corn Stover Digestion
The effects of ferric chloride on the anaerobic digestion of corn stover were studied in this research.Different dosages of ferric iron were added and the corresponding methane production and Fe3+ in the solution was monitored.A maximum methane yield was obtained when the initial FeCl3 was 0.05mg/L.Compared to the control, the methane production was not increased significantly and the methane production rate was enhanced significantly.A higher or lower ferric iron concentration will inhibit the methane production. The availability and status of Fe3+ was the major reason for the different gas production.
