Review of Gold Bioleaching from the Electronic Waste
As a result of the revolution of informafies technology, the production of electronic waste (E-waste) is increasing dramatically in the world. It is highly toxic to our environment. In addition,E-waste has an important resource value.Hydrometallurgical leaching of gold had been utilized commercially in mining industry.Yet,hydrometallurgy was always associated with serious pollution problems.Nowadays,E-waste recycling technology is not only simply the pursuit of economic efficiency, but more seeking environmental-friendly features.Therefore,non-toxicity bioleaching processing technology for gold recovery from E-waste becomes a research focus. This paper describes the development of bioleaching technology, and then summarizes the two types of microorganisms used in bioleaching of gold, that is thiobaeillus and cyanogenic bacteria. To highlight an environmental-friendly technology,a critical comparison of two methods is analyzed and evaluated for both economic feasibility and environmental impact, including their rcaction mechanism, environmental impact, recovery rate, recycling cost, corruption of equipment, and so on.The current researchs and other aspects reveal that cyanogenic bacteria are better than thiobacillus. It was concluded that the contemporary issue was researching the integrated recycling technology of leaching gold from E-waste,meeting the current win-win economic and environmental requirements of the modem times.
