Studies on Herbaceous Plants Phytoremediation of Heavy Metals Contaminated Soils in the Mining Areas

A field survey on soil and plants growing in the heavy metals contaminated soils in the mining areas of Huainan was carried out.The concentrations of Cu,Zn,Cr,Ni,Pb and Cd in soil and plants were measured. The bioaccumulation factors and translocation factors of Cu,Zn,Cr,Ni,Pb and Cd in plants were analyzed. The results showed that the concentrations of the heavy metals in soil exceeded the soil environmental background value of Huainan City,in which Cd pollution was the most serious.Compared with general plants, the concentrations of Cr and Ni in these plants were higher than those in general plants. These plants were not the hyperaccumulators basing on the broad definition of hyperaccumulators. But they had some certain characteristics of hyperaccumulators from the view of bioaccumulation and transfer factors characteristics, which indicated that they could be useful for repairing heavy metals contaminated soils in the future.
