Catalytic Effects of Several Metal Oxides on Pyrolysis of Rice Husk by Microwave Heating
Rice husk is a kind of cheap by-product of rice processing factories. As an abundant biomass,it can be used as an energy source via combustion for power generation.Alternatively,it can be converted to liquid or gaseous product as a clean secondary energy carrier by pryolysis or gasification techniques. Here pyrolysis of rice husk co-existing with several metal oxides (calcium oxide, magnesium oxide and calcined dolomite) by microwave heating was conducted and the effects of them on yields of liquid, gaseous and solid products and the composition and distribution of gaseous and liquid products were investigated. It was found that all the three oxides can increase the yields of total gaseous products and calcium oxide can greatly decrease the carbon dioxide content and magnesium oxide can considerably increase the hydrogen content in the gaseous product.
