Adsorption of Chromium (Ⅵ) from Aqueous Solutions with Corncob
Corncob,an agricultural solid waste, was used as biosorbent for the removal of chromium(Ⅵ).Variables of the batch experiments includind solution pH,Cr(Ⅵ) concentration and particle size were conducted.FT-IR spectra of the adsorbents (before use and after exhaustion) were recorded to explore number and position of the functional groups available for the binding of chromium ions on to studied adsorbents.SEM of the adsorbents was recorded to explore the morphology of the studied adsorbents.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) study revealed that the mechanism of Cr(Ⅵ) biosorption with corncob was its complete reduction into Cr(Ⅲ) and partial binding of the reduced-Cr(Ⅲ).
