Synthesis and Serf-decomposition Reaction of Fe3O4-Graphene Nanosheets for Methylene Blue Removal under Natural Lighting
Fe3O4-graphene nanosheets have been synthesized via a simple effective chemical precipitation method, followed by a heat treatment. The composite nanosheets are superparamagnetic at room temperature and can be separated by an external magnetic field. The prepared Fe3O4-graphene nanosbeets were characterized by X-my diffraction (XRD),scanning electron microscope (SEM),transmission electron microscopy (TEM),and raman spectroscopy. The results demonstrated the successful attachment of iron oxide nanoparticles to graphene nanosheets. It was found that the attached nanoparticles were mainly Fe3O4 and the Fe3O4-graphene nanosbeets not only show near complete methylene blue removal within 10 mintues under natural lighting, but also they are practically usable for methylene blue separation from water.
