SI-ATRP:Preparation of Novel Amphiphilic Water Treatment Agent Polyacrylamide Brush on Substrates
Surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (SI-ATRP) of acrylamide was carried out by employing chloroacetic acid / CuCl / N,N,N,N-Tetramethylethylenediamine (TMEDA) as initiating system to grow water treatment agent polyaerylamide (PAAM) brushes on silicon wafer.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS),contact angle measurements,Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra and atomic force microscopy (AFM) were introduced to characterize the components and morphology of the PAAM brushes. With the PAAM formed first on silicon wafer as the anchored-initiator,a novel amphiphilic water treatment agent polyaerylamide brush,polyacrylamide/poly(methyl methylacrylate) block copolymer brush was further prepared. The surface self-assembly behavior of the dual-components brushes after being treated with toluene and water was also studied in detail.
